Now chinos are not just for the office. Add a pair to your checklist to see you through the seasons. Alternate with jeans on casual days or redefine relaxed at work, here are 5 ways to wear the versatile chino now and throughout the year.
1. With layers
With shorter days and colder mornings and evenings, it’s time to pile on those layers. Choose a pair of neutral coloured chinos worn with a plain t-shirt underneath a denim shirt, grey marl crew neck sweatshirt and maybe even a lightweight jacket to keep away the wind chill.
2. Smart and prepared
A great alternative to jeans, you can wear your favourite pair of chinos with a lighter knit, and since chinos are softer and more pliable than most denim, you’ll feel comfortably smart wearing them with a light knit over a smart shirt. Stick to classic shades such as navy or tobacco to look smart.
3. Laid back in the office
Stick to the dresscode without losing the casual feel of your chinos. Team a pair with brogues, smart shirt such as an Oxford shirt and wool blazer. Tuck your shirt into the chinos and add a belt – this will help define you as office-ready without losing the casualness of your chinos.
4. Simple and safe
This is an effortless look that anyone can pull off, whether you’re going on a date or just to a nice bar. Pair your classic chinos with a crisp white cotton shirt with the sleeves rolled up or down. Keep a cotton blazer or lightweight bomber jacket handy in case it gets chilly. Then finish with some stylish loafers or boat shoes for the perfect smart casual style.
5. Casual and carefree
This is perfect if you’re headed into town or meeting up with a close friend and need a quick fix. Pair your chinos with a casual shirt (a check shirt if you want to look like you made some extra effort) and some plain trainers. No need to tuck your shirt in – leave it loose on those casual and comfortable days.
Well worth investing in, make chinos an essential staple to turn to in the coming months and beyond.

To highlight the design, craftsmanship and attitude of its leather jackets, AllSaints presents a preview of an on-going series of global events under the banner, The Biker Project. Exhibited as a 50-piece installation, The Biker Project (Series 1) features cutting-edge, one-of-a-kind designs and a short film focusing on AllSaints’ commitment to quality English craftsmanship.

The installation, which is currently on show at AllSaints’ Earlham Street store in London’s Covent Garden, acts as a preview to a forthcoming global event which will see the brand’s appetite for creative disruption taken to new levels.
Creative Director Wil Beedle comments, “The leather jacket has always epitomised freedom and rebellion through exquisite craftsmanship – all things that are key to the spirit of AllSaints. And when you consider the tribal nature of bikers, you’re dealing with a culture that by its very essence sets out to express disruption.”
Originally opening in 1998 Earlham Street is AllSaints’ longest running retail space and now doubles up as an experimental hub in which to explore the brand’s key values: independent thinking and creative innovation. Regular events, exhibitions and performances will see fashion, art and retail experiences converge while feeding and inspiring AllSaints’ ever-growing global community.
The Biker Project is open to the general public from 26.03.13 at the AllSaints Earlham Street store in Covent Garden.
